Year 5/6 Girls Football
The festival against other local schools was well attended and our girls' team performed brilliantly. After an initial 0-0 draw with the eventual winners St Mark's school, the girls were exceptionally unlucky to lose their next game 2-1 after a series of goal line scrambles during which the team did everything but put the ball in the net. A handsome 8-0 victory then concluded the group stages, but the team narrowly missed out on the semi-finals by a single goal. The 5th/6th playoff finished goalless but Downton triumphed on penalties, keeper Emily Miller saving all of the opposition's five penalties. All in all, a very good performance and the girls represented the school with pride.
