The start of a new term...

We have had a busy start to our new term learning lots about maps for our Magical Maps topic. The children started by looking at a map of Downton and the local area and used a key to find different locations on the map such as the school, leisure centre and public toilets. They then had a go at drawing their own sketch map of Downton on a whiteboard.

We learnt how to use a compass and the children had a go at orientating themselves to find North. They then followed compass directions to find different locations on a map.

Today the children have been learning about the key geographical vocabulary they need to know. They have been looking at aerial photographs and labelling cities, rivers, oceans, ports, forests, valleys, hills etc.

Within computing this term the children are learning about how to stay safe on the internet. We explored what the term digital footprint means.

In maths we have been learning how to multiply by making equal groups, using the multiplication symbol and creating arrays.
